BMW has announced that a range-topping 550i xDrive tavern will be accessible to squeeze in a United Kingdom for a grand aged sum of £67,595.
‘Excellent news’, we competence think! ‘I can be cooler than those mugs who compensate some-more for an M5 and have scarcely all a poise and power’, we competence also think! Here’s an idea: stop thinking. Nothing is cooler than an M5. But if we can’t wait – a new, updated M5 is expected to be suggested after this year, with most energy and tech – a 550i looks a tantalising prospect.
Indeed, it is “distinguished from a core 5 Series models” (more about that we can review here) around a 4.4-litre turbo V8, here matched to an eight-speed involuntary gearbox and four-wheel drive.
As one would expect, it does Good Numbers. Numbers like 523bhp, 553lb ft of torque, 0-62mph in 3.8secs and a tip speed singular to 155mph. It also comes with an M Sport diff, adaptive M suspension, a blacked-out grille, imagination red stop calipers and 20in wheels. Inside you’re treated to a Harmon/Kardon approximate sound setup.
Of course, there are other engines and trims levels we substantially don’t wish – things like a 520d, 530d, 530e, 540i and 545e – though all these new Fives, a 550i included, get a new, wider grille, shallower, brighter headlights and bigger inner screens and better connectivity.
Yes, we hear you, and no, we can’t, really sadly. BMW has reliable that a 550i will usually be accessible as a saloon, not a Touring. The biggest petrol engine we can container in a new 5er estate is a six-cylinder 540i xDrive – that automobile gets 325bhp, and will scurry from 0-62mph in 5.2secs. That’s still real-world fast, and all yours for only underneath £52k for an SE trim, or a shade underneath £59k for M Sport Edition trim.
But then, who wants to live in a real world?
