This 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello is a European-market example that was built in September 1999 and originally delivered to Austrian distributor Wolfgang Denzel AG before being imported to the United States in December 1999. It was EPA- and DOT-certified by Dick Fritz’s Amerispec in Connecticut before spending time in Florida and Missouri, and it was acquired by the current owner in 2013. Showing just over 10,500 miles, the car is powered by a 5.5-liter V12 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Rosso Corsa over Nero leather. Service in 2016 included changing the fluids and replacing the timing belts, spark plugs, air-conditioning compressor, powertrain mounts, power-steering hoses, and more, totaling over $19k. This 550 Maranello reportedly won its class at the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance in California in 2015 and received a platinum award at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey in 2017. It is now offered on consignment in Costa Mesa, California with service records dating back to 2004, a clean Carfax report, an extra set of factory wheels, removed audio equipment, owner’s manuals, a tool kit, and a clean Florida title.
The Pininfarina-styled aluminum bodywork is finished in the factory shade of Rosso Corsa (322). Cosmetic work performed in 2016 included removal of a dent in the left door, removal of the front license-plate bracket, and an exterior detailing. The left headlight seal was replaced in 2017. European-market round turn-signal repeaters are retained on the fenders.
Modular 18” wheels from a 550 Barchetta wear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires that measure 255/40 up front and 295/35 out back and show 2016 date codes. A set of 18” factory wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires mounted is also included in the sale and shown in the photo gallery below. The brake system utilizes black four-piston calipers and ventilated, cross-drilled rotors.
The cabin is trimmed in Nero leather with a color-keyed dash, steering wheel, door panels, and carpeting, along with diamond-quilted leather trim on the rear shelf. An updated Ferrari sound system includes a Becker head unit, upgraded speakers, and a six-disc CD changer. The removed factory head unit and speakers are included.
Instrumentation includes a 220-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows just over 10,500 miles, about 2k of which have been added during current ownership.
The front-mounted 5.5-liter Tipo F133A V12 features a 65° angle between cylinder banks with dual overhead camshafts on each bank, producing 478 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Service performed by San Francisco Motorsports Inc. in June 2016 included replacing the timing belts and tensioner bearings, adjusting the cam timing, and changing the oil, transaxle fluid, coolant, brake fluid, air filters, and fuel filters. Additionally at that time, the OBDII connector was rewired, a four-wheel alignment was performed, and the following components were replaced:
